My notes, based on discussion with Nitin.
It looks like a moodle archive service, where we snapshot all courses on a day (just before annual academic roll over), and make the courses available to staff as read only (for data retention and degree scheme review purposes) is viable. It shoulds like we’ll have copy everything across to a different server.
The costs to e-learning (i prefer a one off payment) will be around £3k for four years. Then review. Remember degress scheme reveiws are every 5 to 6 years (!).
Questions are, what type of use are we expecting? do we need to increase this to a second server? What do the users want to achieve with such a service? who will this new service be communicated to users? what is the likely support requirement for us about getting new staff onto courses?
Nitin is talking to Dave, and to others …
