RFID, Touchatag … first impression … good :-)

Well, post a meeting with Julian Cheal (UKOLN), we’ve got our hands on a touchatag kit.

After installing the software and registering at touchatag.com, I used a simple app, which open a web browser and opening a web page when the tag is scanned. It is very nice and cool 🙂 So the hardware works …

So what next? Well, I’ll need to get James and Alex the challenge of writing an app which reads the ID number from the library card, then map this against the table which maps a libary card to a person (see BUCS).

After which we’d need to push the data into a table which date / time stamps scan. We’ll then have a register for attendance at workshops.

After which, this data, combined with other data (access to moodle etc.,) can feed into a protype dashboard of a view of an indivdiual interface with e-learning. This is a proof of concept for the needs of Phillip Rogers etc., the student dashboard 🙂
