The following is a brief summary of some ideas discussed with Mark earlier today. It was around effective strategies to connect the ILE (institutional learning environments, VLE, ePortfolio) with PLEs.
The idea would be to identify what tasks need to be completed in what space, and why (write some user scenarios which map to learning and assessment objectives), and set clear expectations which are to be discussed and set with each cohort in how these spaces are to be used.

For Mark’s context … discuss Expo as the instiutional Portfolio, and the need on the back of this model there can be a redesign of the Blackboard course to better facilitate the tasks, ie., for the distance learing course make it more community / blog driven.
