Moving on to wider discussion – faqs asked by students / staff … Use this as part of the expectations management … Ethical issues around recording
Is.gd/diCf8 – video and audio FAQ … Looks lime we should be having a set of guidelines for the member of staff to think about when capturing video.
Workshops (learning studio) …. Bar camp style …. With a small plan. This includes a digital media workshops. Used creative process to get them involved, so can create some meaningful recordings, and show. So got them to think about video recording, editing etc., ie., start the shots, sequences etc., get it reasonable for the first time, to limit the editing
Carol … Windows live editor …. Question … Picasa will let them do it.
Example …. Process art … OER … Repository for staff created video show/tells
Bite size video …. People don’t watch more more than 2 mins … So focus on short bite size videos
Discussion around managing video, ie., what if want to be taken down after 2 years …
Quality of the video …needs to be fit for purpose of the audience, ie., just capturing the discussions, ideas etc.,
Revisit graham’s guidelines for lecture capture … Think performance rights, and how managing. Also, think about how this is managed.

Interesting looking around the room … This is a screenacst which we are watching. People are starting to fidget, lose interest and disengage. So common message, screen casting is easy to do, but very difficult to make effective. So think design.
So, a topic I’m interested in, I’ve lost this discussion …. I’m not engaged in the medium !!! Looking out the window, thinking coffee … Real shame, would love have to have see this as a face to face session.

Audio feedback is preferred by students than written I’m terms of clarity of the feedback
Audio feedback is easier for the author (lecture) to give more detail in the feedback compared to written feedback
Audio feedback is quicker to deliver than written (if look at process), so can deliver it in a more timely manner
Students engaged with the audience feedback more than written, so re-visited. Helps much more about personal connections within large groups
Overall audio feedback allows them to change their learning behaviour. It is very good at emulating a meeting.
Interesting point …. Student engagement with formative assessment is not particularly high, so probably need to get the expectations set at the start.

Feedback (feed forward) for learning … Audio can be an enabler, but need to think what are we trying to achieve with the feedback. Perhaps might look at this from the view of student engagement and learning experience … Not on direct explict impact on grades.
Use of screen capture for feedback … Camtasia … And use a visualiser for easy authoring
Digital posters …. PowerPoint, with camtasia …. Bit be an opportunity for the heads up series. As these have a template, set of answer to address. So this could be really useful.
